Tucked away on Burnell Street

West End Winnipeg

Something I love about older parts of town is that you can be in the midst of a residential block then suddenly come across a gem of a commercial building.

The 101 year-old Hignell Printing Building on Burnell near Ellice actually started out as the Crescent Creamery Ice Cream plant. The adjoining stables for 150 horses are long gone. It's a remanant of Burnell Street's industrial past but thanks to its scale and glazed brick fa├žade does not feel out of place.

Read more about the history of the building at my latest Winnipeg Downtown Places post.
