A great, historic patio

Patio view from Free Press Cafe

I'm glad that the Free Press Café went with a patio. I think that patio missed a couple of years after Pastry Castle left. That location, and the one Chopin's had on the opposite corner of the building many years ago, has a really unique feature: no matter what direction you look in it's circa 1912 or so.

The view from the windows of the WFP's News Cafe on a sunny day may just be my favorite view anywhere in the city.

This is interesting -- years ago I went on a heritage walking tour in the Exchange.
Inside one building on Main -- the old bank building with giant pillars, I can't recall its name? -- the guide took us to a window and said the view there hadn't changed since 1910 or so (save the cars driving past)...sure enough, she was right.

Oh, that might have been the old Bank of Toronto. You look out onto bankers row. That's the one with the dance studio in it now, I believe.
