The scaffolding is in place and demolition is set to start today or tomorrow on the uppermost section of the at the smokestack at The Forks.
In June, a routine inspection found structural issues with the top five feet of the stack that was built circa 1947, (not 1847 as reported by CTV). There were also signs that bits were falling off the peak.
The project is expected to take a month.
