Tomorrow (Thurs, Aug 13, 2009) M.P. Merv Tweed will make an announcement regarding Display Building Number II at the Brandon Exhibition / Keystone Centre Grounds. The feds are chipping in $425k toward the restoration of the building.
It won't cover the full job but will hopefully allow for the much needed roof repairs to protect the building against further deterioration.
The provincial heritage site was recently included on a national endangered list of significant heritage buildings most in need of repair.
UPDATE: Photos from the announcement here and here.

Geez, what will Mayor Dave have to say about this? Inquiring minds want to know.
I remember Mayor Dave was touting it for a Curling Museum / Hall of Fame a few years back. There is a group looking for a museum location in Brandon - that would be a perfect marriage - WestMan museum.
Interesting to note that the Mayor didn't seem to be in attendance. Rumour has it that he and the Exhibition board don't see eye to eye on this project. In fact, the Mayor doesn't seem to be in favour of a number of projects in Brandon, especially in the downtown area. His support for The Strand renovation and the new gym complex at BU has been non existent.
