The Manitoba Theatre Centre has been designated a National Historic Site of Canada, it was announced today. The Market Avenue building erected in 1970 was cited as an excellent example of small-scale Brutalist architecture and for its ability to encourage a stronger relationship between audience and actor. Brandon's Dominion Display Building II, on the Keystone Centre grounds, is on Canada's endangered list. A great building - I have never been in but have seen it a number of times. A pet project of the Mayor Burgess a few years back was to have it renovated to become a Curling Hall of Fame.
