Portage Place's IMAX has come full circle.
The 300 seat cinema with its still-astounding 21 meter by 17 meter screen opened to great fanfare at 12 noon on September 30, 1987. The first features shown was Heart Land.
Sadly, the IMAX is closing on Sunday and it's going out the way it came in by showing Heart Land. Times are 12:00pm, 1:15pm, 2:30pm and 3:45pm. Admission and parking it the Portage Place parkade are free.

The made-for-Imax 40 minute film was produced and directed by Norma Bailey and Richard Condie (the latter of The Big Snit fame) at a cost of $2.5m which was underwritten as part of the IMAX development project by the three levels of government.
