Grey Goose name disappears from landscape
The Grey Goose name has now disappeared form the Manitoba landscape with the demolition of its former garage on Burnell Street.
Created in 1926 through the amalgamation of a number of rural bus routes, it grew into Manitoba's public transportation giant, its name was erased in 2007 when U.K.'s First Bus, purchased Greyhound which owned Grey Goose, and dropped the name and many of the routes of the regional carrier.
Greyhound will need to do some remediation of the land due to contamination, then Burnell Street will be home to a 2 acre site ready for redevelopment.
For more history of the bus line and the garage. For photos of the garage, including demolition.
