This holiday season, I am sharing some holiday entertaining tips and recipes from Katharine 'Kay' Middleton. From 1935 - 1948, Middleton was the Winnipeg Tribune's Home Economics Editor, writing 4,000 "A Page for Winnipeg Homes" columns. She was also featured in the Free Press and had a CKJS radio show. For my biography of Middleton.
Remember, this was World War II and some recipes involved the reduction or substitution of items that were being rationed or no longer available on the shelves.

these are fabulous - thank you for sharing! I have a large, colour, Winnipeg Tribune advertisement for her column that I've framed for my kitchen. She was ahead of her time in so many ways, and yet, we could use refreshers on her lessons again today.
Thanks ! Reading back through her stuff, including the non-holiday related ones, she was an advocate for slow cooking, a 100 mile diet, proper budgeting etc. Things they make entire TV series out of today were things she was reminding us to do in 1942 !
