Sears' lasting impact on Winnipeg

My column in Sunday's Winnipeg Free Press takes a look at Sears' history in Winnipeg, from the Simpson's mail order store on Portage Avenue at Vaughan in 1948 until today.

Though the store’s history is not as deeply entwined with Winnipeg’s as Eaton’s or The Bay's, the once upstart retailer has certainly had an impact on the city’s development.

Also check out my Winnipeg Places blog posts about Sears Garden City and Sears Polo Park.
