Tuesday is TEDx Manitoba !

Tuesday, February 15th is TEDx Manitoba. It's a day of presentations by some of our Canada's top thinkers and doers (though not Gary Doer). The sessions will be streamed at their website.

Some local content of note:

Frank Plummer Is There Natural Immunity to HIV?
This internationally recognized AIDS researcher is a U of M grad and Winnipeg-based.

Francis Amara Community Engagement: Science in the Inner City
Creator of the Inner City Science Laboratory, a lab that works closely with Winnipeg’s aboriginal communities inviting youth to explore and learn about medicine.

Scott Stirton Intelligent Buildings
CEO of Winnipeg’s Smith Carter Architects. They built, among many others, our level 4 lab and since that time a number of other labs and science-related structures around the world.

Hanna Taylor A Cold Walk in Shoes Without a Home
The now thirteen year-old founder of the Ladybug Foundation.

The full agenda is here.

TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) is a U.S. non profit created in 1984 and has since gone global. Their mission:

We believe passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and ultimately, the world. So we're building here a clearinghouse that offers free knowledge and inspiration from the world's most inspired thinkers, and also a community of curious souls to engage with ideas and each other.

If the TED website, with over 700 lectures and performances, is not a place you spend time - you should ! It's really one of the most interesting places on the 'net.

Thinkers and Doers unite ! Uptown
