Observances from Victoria

A few days in on a work trip but I have a little downtime so here's some free-flow observances !

Winnipeg simply needs a seaport with close access to an American population centre. Not sure how to make that work yet but I have a few more days to figure it out !

Great downtown. Windows and shop doorways open onto the street. A great collection of old buildings. They obviously have design standards for new buildings to fit both the look and street-life that the older buildings have and it works very nicely for the most part.

Though their old downtown is reminiscent of The Exchange District, one thing that is neat is their use of the alleys and laneways which we don't make use of at all. Many are 'arcades' or where small vendors have tables set up plying their wares.

More later !

A write up from Saturday's Globe on food in Victoria.

I absolutely love Victoria, although I imagine some things have changed in the fifteen years since I was last there... perhaps it's time for a visit..?

I would also love to see a seaport here, too, both from a logistical standpoint and also as someone with a newfound interest in boating.

Enjoy the rest of your trip, Mr. C!
