Urban Dumplings: Culture, Videos and Streetcars !

My Manitoba history video list has been updated ! Here's an animated short that I rather liked, though not really historical: Hothouse 3: A Prairie Story by Koizumi (2006, 94 sec) "a prairie landscape undergoes a metamorphosis from rural idyll to over-urbanized dystopia".

is promoting an interactive on-line project called reburbia: "Calling all future-forward architects, urban designers, renegade planners and imaginative engineers: Show us how you would re-invent the suburbs!". I haven't played around with it yet but it looks interesting.

Strike! The Musical's
outdoor performance during Doors Open was great. if you missed it you can see excerpts on Weds July 8 from noon to 1 pm in Centre Court, Portage Place. This is all in aid, of course, for the full length theatrical version that will debut Jul 30 - Aug 5 at the Canwest Performing Arts Centre (Theatre for Young People) at The Forks. Info for that can be found here. Just 8 performances !

Continuing with Streetcars Human Transit blog's post: streetcars: an inconvenient truth
looks at the issue we're grappling with right now: bus rapid transit vs train rapid transit.

Culture Map
The Winnipeg Arts Council has a Winnipeg Culture Map on their site, colour coded by type of venue.
