More Small Market TV Woes

There was a bit of good news for small market television stations when Bruce Claassen and Bluepoint picked up CKX-TV Brandon last week. That still left CHWI-TV in Windsor and CKNX-TV in Wingham, ON looking for lifelines.

Today, CanWest announced that after a review of five stations it found "creative solutions" for three and decidedly un-creative ones for the otehr two.

Gone are: CHEK-TV Victoria and CHCA-TV Red Deer, which will close August 31st. CHBC-TV Kelowna will become a Global affiliate on September 1. Both and CHCH-TV Hamilton and CJNT-TV Montreal have already been conditionally sold.

Bluepoint told the Canadian Press that they are looking for more small market assets. They seem to be falling from the trees.
