Big Parking

Chris.D features photos of the new-fangled technology being used to track cars as they park.

Interestingly, a town in the San Fran Bay area is looking to take similar technology one step further:
The posh and picturesque town that juts into San Francisco Bay is poised to do something unprecedented: use cameras to record the license plate number of every vehicle that crosses city limits. (San Fran Chronicle).

Luckily, though, these new-fangled technologies are foolproof. Well, except maybe here, (Computer glitch = 800 wrongly-issued Winnipeg parking tickets), or there (85% of parking ticket machines in N. Ireland out of service at some point last year). There's certainly no need to resort to things like a class-action lawsuit before the Supreme Court of Canada arguing that parking enforcement officers shouldn't hand out tickets when cold weather freezes up parking meters and makes it impossible for drivers to obtain receipts.

Ahh...how will we ever explain this to generations ahead !
